Its this AMAZING time of the year where students retreat to their supposedly 2nd home to pursue their passion, gain insightful knowledge and survive the MOE exam... For me, I was back to my beloved HCI... The majestic clock tower, luscious greeneries, the cool HCI field, friendly security guards, familiar faces, nice teachers...
Everything seemed so blissful, HCI rocks man! Not until when i saw so many parents camping at the terraces to look upon their newly-promoted sec 1 children and make sure no one is bullying them... ZZzzzZZzz... in the end making the whole Bukit Timah Road jam due to the spamming of cars into the school.
Anyway, long pants are cool, it makes you look taller, bigger, smarter and cooler. Gdbye to the communist-looking khaki shorts plus white shirt and buttons. I was kinda excited to see my classroom at the clock tower. It was supposedly the place where tons of successful people today graduated from. Most importantly, it had aircon, but when i entered the room, guess what?....... NO AIRCON!
Omg, it was feaking SIAN and it turn-off my excitement towards sch... Aircon is only allowed to be on at 10 am coz they are scared of students stinking up the room after PE. However, the classroom are quite nice, though its a distant away from the toilet. Then the usual flag-raising took place where sec 1s would walk in to sorta allow the whole school to welcome them... In the end we began niaoing those with high pants and high socks... HAHA...
Then we went back class and chose CMC... I became the most useless position in the whole CMC for the 3rd yr in my whole sec sch life... Welfare secretary. What do I do? Provide welfare for the class...... Anyway I admit i was quite slack last yr as a welfare sec. , but I promise I will try to do better this yr...
Got some new teachers for 4I. Look forward to having Mr Png's lesson coz many ppl say he is a gd maths teacher. Hope my maths would improve under him :)
Beginning of this stressful and important yr, many have alrdy felt the intense heat... With competition from hardcore muggers from other schs when HCI students enter JC, will HCI students be able to compete with them? Also, competition from China , overseas scholars, ultimate 'no-life' hardcore muggers from other schs with 8,9,10 or 11 A1s for Os, HCI students must really meng to survive this intense competition in JC.
Like in the ancient palace, mind-games would be played, behind the scenes back-stabbing would take place and students would do all they possibly can to fight a place for their preferred special programmes and subject combinations. Will we be able to survive this brutal and cruel battlefield?
I think wat Mr Tan said today really made sense, do HCI people have the ability to compete with those muggers out there? Or will we get pwned by them... It waits to be seen. Judging by standards now, i must say other schs really practice much more and learn more things than what HCI students do.
Can we keep up with the pace in JC? I am not so sure myself... However, I believe in the syllabus of HCI, where they equip us with the necessary skills to stand out from the crowd, and to survive our tertiary education. Perhaps I am getting too paranoid, but its sthing worth worrying about.
Anyway, we shld all really concentrate on our sec 4 syllabus now... Hope no one will be retained, coz all ur efforts would be like thrown into the drain... So hope everyone will be able to survive this challenging yr ahead of us... :)
